About me
Peter Cunningham is the director of Choral and Vocal Studies at Kilgore College. He holds a Masters degree in Choral Conducting from The Pennsylvania State University, and a Bachelors in Music Education from The University of Texas at San Antonio. Before pursuing graduate work, he taught at James Madison High School in San Antonio, TX for 7 years. Classically, he has performed all over the US and in Europe, including a tour of Italy, multiple performances with the San Antonio Symphony Chorus, The Mastersingers, and has been lucky enough to perform on stages in New York City, Las Vegas, Nashville, Orlando, Munich and many others. Peter is a certified Singing Judge for the Barbershop Harmony Society, and his barbershop experience includes many choruses and quartets, including a tenure as interim director for international competitors, The Marcsmen, and singing Lead in the 2014 International Collegiate Quartet Champions, The Academy. Currently, Peter sings lead in the quartet Opus IV. Peter has served as both clinician and teaching quartet for multiple youth events across the US, as section leader, music team leader, and director of multiple choruses, as a coach for individuals and ensembles, and has served on the faculty for Harmony University since 2017. He is accompanied in life by his lovely wife, Sarah, and their daughters, Annalise and Claire.
