Rick Spencer trat 1989 der Barbershop Harmony Society bei und hat den größten Teil seines Lebens damit verbracht, anderen die Kunstform des Barbershop näherzubringen.
Seit 2007 ist Rick zertifizierter Musicality Judge und als Coach, Dozent und Arrangeur tätig.
Rick arbeitete 12 Jahre lang für die Barbershop Harmony Society Headquarters in verschiedenen Führungspositionen, darunter als Director of Music & Education, wo er für die Musikausbildung und Jugendprogramme der Society verantwortlich war.
Er hat auf staatlichen, regionalen und nationalen Musikausbildungskonferenzen in den USA und Kanada Vorträge gehalten und mehrere Publikationen zum Thema Musikausbildung veröffentlicht.
Als aktiver Quartettsänger hat Rick zahlreiche Preise auf Bezirksebene gewonnen und belegte bei internationalen Wettbewerben den 4. Platz.
Rick ist in der Barbershop-Chor-Szene in Nashville aktiv, leitete von 2015 bis 2020 den TuneTown Show Chorus (SAI) und ist derzeit stellvertretender Direktor des Music City Chorus (BHS), der 2025 die Silbermedaille beim Internationalen Chorwettbewerb gewann.
Rick stammt ursprünglich aus Connecticut und hat einen Abschluss in Musik und Musikpädagogik von der University of Connecticut.

Rick Spencer joined the Barbershop Harmony Society in 1989 and has dedicated most of his life to sharing the art of barbershop singing with others. Since 2007, Rick has been a certified Musicality Judge and works as a coach, instructor, and arranger.
For 12 years, Rick worked for the Barbershop Harmony Society Headquarters in various leadership positions, including Director of Music & Education, where he oversaw the Society's music education and youth programs.
He has presented at state, regional, and national music education conferences in the United States and Canada and has published several works on music education.
As an active quartet singer, Rick has won numerous county awards and placed fourth in international competitions.
Rick is active in the Nashville barbershop chorus scene, directed the TuneTown Show Chorus (SAI) from 2015 to 2020, and is currently the assistant director of the Music City Chorus (BHS), which won the silver medal at the International Chorus Competition in 2025.
Originally from Connecticut, Rick holds a degree in music and music education from the University of Connecticut.
When he's not making music, Rick enjoys spending time with his wife, Heather, and their family of six children.
